Just got back from a weekend in Busselton / Dunsborough
I have always loved the North west for its rugged beauty and constant weather and always imagined retiring there to take advantage of the never ending summer and the social life.
My eyes have been opened to the appeal of the south west.
Leigh, Sian, Taylah and I had the best weekend enjoying the sun and the water and the peace together.
We stayed at the Sebel and had the use of pool, gym barbecue facilities and basically everything needed for a home away from home- not to mention squash courts but that is a story best left untold ......😀😀
Meals at Vasse Occy's Evviva and what used to be called Samudra we took advantage of lovely venues full of ambience and special service.
Beautiful bays and coves - we frolicked amongst the rocks and pebbled beaches taking in the warming rays of long over due sun.
Time wasn't an issue and days were spent enjoying each other's company , talking and sharing silly stories , looking for a mythical fly , playing Wahu tennis and just chilling.Phones rarely appeared except for an occasional photo opportunity.
We wondered at how people spent their time living down south but after a few brief hours there I was taken back through time to the small communities up north where you knew everyone and actually had more than enough social life.
Everyone knows everyone else and you are never short of company or the beauty of the wonderful landscape.
What impressed me most was the peace and tranquility and the sense of relaxation that permeates your whole being.
I can't say stress forms a real part of my day but I never realised the effect of traffic and parking and just life in the metropolitan area.
You are in a constant state of tension without really realising .
My first recollection of moving down to Perth from Dampier was that people never met eye contact and Perth could be a hard nut to crack despite being a relatively small hamlet itself.
People down south seem to have the time to smile and say 'hi'.
Blessed with days immersed in beach culture life couldn't be more in sync with the harmony of the universe.
Teamed with organic , Ecco friendly retailers and eateries you really feel at one with nature and the earth.
Like to think I can bring back some of the calm to everyday life back home - shouldn't need to go away to get the balance but it is nice just to have confirmed what life is all about - family freedom and living life.
